Mushroom leather may be the next big thing, and one startup is out to prove it. The company MycoWorks is raising funding to make a leather-like material from fungus that could replace many animal-based leathers in supply chains. Not only can the mushroom pleather be grown into specific shapes, reducing waste, but it’s incredibly efficient and doesn’t even require light to produce. Best of all, it's 100% vegan and doesn't involve animals at any step along the way. We like where this is heading.
